VISTA Project Goal

You’ll turn the strategic plan into an action plan, paving the way for Habitat for Humanity to build and repair more homes in Portage County, Wisconsin.

Project Objectives

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Develop an outreach and communication plan to boost awareness and support for Central Wisconsin Habitat for Humanity and their mission to build and repair homes.

  • Review the organization’s current communications/outreach efforts. Note strengths and weaknesses and research best practices to efficiently increase support for the organization.

  • Based on the assessment and research, develop a communications and outreach plan that will aid with volunteer recruitment, fundraising, and other organizational needs.

  • Create print and digital materials. Implement the communication and outreach plan in coordination with stakeholders (construction, fundraising, leadership, etc). Develop templates and a calendar to assist with ongoing communication and outreach needs.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM: Develop a volunteer recruitment and management plan in order to meet the organization’s needs and increase their capacity to build and repair more homes.

  • Review the organization’s existing volunteer program, noting strengths and weaknesses. Research best practices to improve the volunteer program.

  • Based on the assessment and research, develop a plan to increase volunteer recruitment and retention while automating/streamlining processes and procedures.

  • Implement new/revised volunteer program. Create/update processes and procedures and related materials. Identify potential volunteer sources and connect with them. Manage the volunteer calendar.

FUNDRAISING: Develop a fundraising plan to meet the organization’s need and increase their capacity to build more homes.

  • Review the organization’s fundraising history, including appeals and events. Note strengths and weaknesses and research best practices to improve the success of fundraising initiatives.

  • Based on the assessment, research, and the direction of organizational leadership, develop a fundraising plan. This could include, events, traditional donor appeals, and social media campaigns. Develop metrics to measure success.

  • Create a calendar, project timelines, and recruit volunteers as needed, and implement the fundraising plan.

Benefits

In addition to the standard VISTA benefits, this position offers an additional $250/month housing stipend, 30-hour work week, and a hybrid schedule.
