VISTA Project Goal

You’ll update and optimize fundraising processes and procedures, research and apply for grants, and conduct community outreach in order to build more homes and complete more home repairs.

Project Objectives

OUTREACH & COMMUNICATIONS – Develop a communications plan to increase awareness and support for Door County Habitat for Humanity.

• Review existing communications strategies and materials, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. Research best practices for community outreach.

• Develop a communications plan that includes digital, print, and in-person strategies. Identify opportunities for direct community outreach, such as tabling at local events.

• Create templates and standard language to drive brand recognition for social media, brochures, etc. Create reusable/easily edited graphics for social media posting.

• Organize all materials and create a communications calendar.

EVENTS/FUNDRAISING – With staff and other stakeholders, raise funds to support home builds, home repairs, and ramp installations in keeping with Habitat for Humanity’s mission.

• GRANTS: Review the organization’s grant history. Research new funding opportunities, including corporate sponsorship opportunities in addition to traditional grants. With the executive director, develop and write proposals. Assist with reporting requirements for existing and new grants. Create reusable templates for tracking grants and collecting data.

• APPEALS: Clean up donor database. Create/update processes to ensure donor information is properly collected and submitted. Create appeals in coordination with other communication efforts – newsletters, social media, mailings, etc.

• PROSPECT RESEARCH: With executive director, identify and research prospective donors. Develop cultivation strategies and methods to track their progress and effectiveness.

• EVENTS: Collaborate with staff, board, and volunteers to plan and execute fundraising events.
