Resource Development - AmeriCorps VISTA Project with HFH Fond du Lac

VISTA Project Goal

You will recruit volunteers, raise funds, and conduct community outreach in order to increase support for Habitat for Humanity’s local mission of building and repairing homes in Fond du Lac.

Project Objectives

VOLUNTEERS: Develop a volunteer recruitment and management plan.

  1. Research best practices for volunteer recruitment and retention.

  2. Based on research and needs of the organization, create a plan to boost recruitment and retention.

  3. Recruit! Create fliers, identify and connect with potential partners: community groups, faith organizations, local businesses, etc.

FUNDRAISING: Develop a plan to meet the organization’s needs and increase their capacity to build more homes.

  1. Review organization’s fundraising history, including appeals, events, and previous and current donors.

  2. Work with the executive director and board of directors to develop a plan. This could include, events, traditional donor appeals, and social media campaigns. Develop metrics to measure success.

  3. Create a calendar, project timelines and begin fundraising!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Boost awareness and support for Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac.

  1. Develop a communications and outreach plan that will aid with volunteer recruitment, fundraising, and other needs.

  2. Create print and digital materials. Implement plan in coordination with organization leadership, construction team, etc.
