VISTA Project Goal

This VISTA will develop a home repair program for HFH Wisconsin River Area and establish the organization as an official Veterans Build affiliate.

Project Objectives

RESEARCH – Assess the communities’ needs, the communities’ assets and determine the best ways HFH WI River Area can meet those needs.

DEVELOP THE PROGRAM – Follow Habitat International’s guide to establish HFH WI River Area as an official Veterans Build and Aging in Place affiliate and develop their home repairs program. Develop necessary processes, procedures, materials, etc.

IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM – Implement the Repairs Program to sustainably partner with more families to preserve their housing. Pilot the project using the developed tools, processes, etc. Recruit volunteers and find funding opportunities to support the program.

About HFH WI River ARea

Serving Columbia, Iowa and Sauk Counties, Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin River Area has its main offices in charming, historic Baraboo, home of the University of Wisconsin - Baraboo, and located near beautiful Devil’s Lake State Park. HFH Wisconsin River Area has built over 50 homes since its founding. They are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
