Engaging Families in Donor Stewardship

  • Central Wisconsin Convention & Expo Center 10101 Market Street Rothschild, WI, 54474 United States (map)

Description

We know that it takes many people to make a Habitat home possible. Staff, volunteers, donors, and of course Habitat partner families. Effective fundraising involves connecting the dots between these different groups. In this session you'll walk away with ideas on engaging families in a variety of ways that can help families feel needed and honored and can help donors have a deeper sense of the impact that they are helping to create.

Presenter

Amy McGowan, Development Director at Greater Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity

Amy learned about Habitat for Humanity in college when she competed (and won) a design competition for a Habitat for Humanity home. Since 2019, Amy has served as the Development Director at Fox Cities Habitat. Her winding path to development includes 20+ years in a variety of roles including design, sales, leadership, and small-business owner. She loves her work that connects the families that partner with Habitat to the amazing people that make it possible.

Adrienne Nelson, Development Coordinator at Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity

Adrienne was inspired to join Habitat after taking a nonprofits course during college with a professor who was board president of the local affiliate. She began as a VISTA summer associate at Fox Cities Habitat in 2022, transitioned to an internship for the fall, and was later hired on as full-time staff after she graduated. Adrienne has worked in many areas of city government, including the Appleton Parks and Rec Department, the Appleton Public Library, and as an intern for the La Crosse Economic Development Department. She is passionate about affordable housing advocacy and helping families in her community.
