During this one-hour session, Jessica Maloney, Indoor Air & Radon Program Manager at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services will talk about radon, testing and mediation. Learn where it comes from, what problems it causes, and how to fix it. Jessica Maloney | Wisconsin Department of Health Services | Indoor Air and Radon Program Manager: Jessica has been the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Indoor Air and Radon Program Manager for over 7 years. She received her Bachelors in Environmental and Public Health from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. In 2006 Jess was hired as a Public Health Educator for Wisconsin DHS as part of a CDC Cooperative Agreement program. She has since worked on a variety of outreach projects including fish consumption advisories, mercury thermometer take back programs, and administration of a mini-grant program for local health departments to do sampling projects across the state. Jessica became the Indoor Air and Radon Program Manager for DHS in 2012 and serves on the DHS Chemical and Natural Disasters 24/7 on-call team. She succeeded in getting radon awareness on the Wisconsin state cancer plan for 2015-2020 and it will continue as a priority objective for 2020+. She lives in Sun Prairie, WI with her husband John and two hilarious and compassionate girls, Meg age 10 and Kate age 12, Seamus (goldendoodle age 9), and Butters (gray tabby cat age 10). She enjoys cooking a variety of ethnic foods, studying mindfulness, defeating her kids in “Just Dance”, and training for local exercise based events that she may or may not enter someday.
